The Pearl Temple Artisan Sombaty Darbuka is from our premium Artisan Designs collection.
The Pearl Temple Artisan Darbuka features:
The broken-up layers of the Pearl Temple Artisan Sombaty are like the many floors of an ancient temple. These Darbuka designs also feature yellow blossoms to form patterns one would expect on a long-forgotten wall of an ancient shrine or the like. A classical masterpiece.
Gawharet El Fan Export Grade Sombaty Darbukas guarantee a pristine finish, unique design and unbeatable sound quality. Handcrafted in Cairo.
As to be expected with all handmade instruments, there may be some minor variations in design, slight imperfections on the body and some small scratches on the Darbuka head. This will not affect the quality of the sound in any way. All items are new and have not been previously used. Darbukas, like most instruments, require tuning and should be played/tuned regularly for the first few weeks until the head sets fully and the true beauty of the sound starts to shine through.

Will my Sombaty require tuning? Your Sombaty will come pre-tuned by one of our team and should stay in tune for a good amount of time to come. Sombaty Darbukas are maintained by changing the skin every so often. Typical timescales to change Sombaty skins are: - Every 6 months for a Darbuka played more than an hour a day (e.g. at a professional level) - Every 12-15 months for a standard Darbuka player (e.g. a casual player who plays for leisure)
How easy is it to change my Sombaty skin? It is straightforward to change the skin on one of our Sombaty Darbukas. We have various guides available on our website, and our team are always contactable via phone, email or chat to support you.
How will you ensure that my Sombaty is safe during shipping? We have significant amounts of experience in shipping Sombaty Darbukas around the world. Rest assured that your Sombaty will be packaged securely, sent with a reliable courier and will arrive to you in perfect condition.
Who is this Sombaty suitable for? This Sombaty is designed with professional players in mind. A beginner may be comfortable using a Sombaty, but may prefer the smaller Darbuka as it is slightly easier to play. A beginner may also not see a great benefit in the larger sized Sombaty until they reach a higher level. With that said, all of our Sombaty Darbukas are manufactured to the highest quality, and are instruments that you buy once, and buy for life. As you improve your Darbuka skills, you will be able to produce a broader spectrum of sounds from your Sombaty. For this reason, a beginner may want to purchase a Sombaty Darbuka.
Will I be able to perform advanced techniques like the Mahbous and Rizz on my Sombaty? Yes, our Sombaty Darbukas are designed and manufactured by people who love the Darbuka and play regularly. Each Darbuka is tuned and tested to ensure that it can product all of the sounds that a Darbuka player could want to produce.
Is there a noticeable difference between the sound of the Darbuka and of the Sombaty? Yes, in the hands of an intermediate or higher level Darbuka player, there is a huge difference in sound between the Darbuka and the Sombaty. The Sombaty models produce much deeper sounds, and more powerful Tek sounds. Furthermore, the increased playing area of the Sombaty Darbuka allows for a wider range of sounds to be created as opposed to a standard Darbuka.
